Learn To Talk Percentages
One notable stock trading strategy is learning to talk percentages. When discussing your investment results, it is better to only talk percentages, not numbers.
Why? This is because you might come straight from an infomercial. Additionally, you might also go beyond the ‘stock lingo.’ Saying “I did 20% in May on my Apple position after Q3 profits came out more rewarding than predicted,” is far better than saying “I made $20,000 in April in my investment portfolio. The first statement sounds more professional and reputable.
To bolster your investment statements, you can compare your quarterly and/or yearly percentage results to the S&P 500. How do you do this? Go to Yahoo Finance and write down the S&P 500 Close for the day and get the historical price for the close on the last day of the previous year. Subtract the second figure from the first and divide the result by the second figure. The final result reflects how you’ve improved or got worse. Now, you’re not just talking like a pro, you’re actually a pro. And you can move forward to become an investment guru!
